Portlaoise-based Kathak artist Moumita Pal brings new work to the Dunamaise stage following the success of Solas – An Indian Irish Cultural Evening: One Beat, Two Cultures.

Across the Sea is a 20-minute interdisciplinary performance inspired by an encounter between W.B. Yeats and Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.

Featuring Indian classical Kathak by Moumita Pal and original music by Portlaoise-based composer Sagnik Chakraborty, the work creates a contemporary dialogue between Indian and Irish traditions, asking what happens when cultures do not simply perform for one another, but create together.
