Step beneath the streets of Dublin this Culture Night and discover one of the city’s most fascinating and unexpected museums. Recently refurbished and expanded, The Moving Crib Museum will be open from 16:00 – 20:00, welcoming visitors of all ages to explore its unique collection.

Housed in the atmospheric basement of a historic Georgian building, the museum leads you through the original kitchens, meat store and coal stores, where history comes to life through an extraordinary collection of vintage curiosities, historic artefacts and over 120 working mechanical figurines dating from the 1950s.

Marvel at an authentic 1890s dolls’ house, discover fascinating objects from medieval times, the 1800s and the 1916 Rising, and meet Fred, the heroic dog who saved three people from the River Liffey. Along the way, uncover original features of the Georgian house and learn the stories behind this much-loved Dublin attraction, captivating visitors for almost 70 years.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a lover of nostalgia, or simply looking for something different to experience this Culture Night, The Moving Crib Museum promises an evening of discovery, craftsmanship and wonder.

Please note that the Moving Crib Museum is located in the basement of the historic Georgian building and is accessible by stairs only. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, there is no lift or wheelchair access to the Moving Crib Museum.

Visitors with young children are welcome to leave prams and buggies in a designated area before visiting the Moving Crib Museum, as they cannot be taken downstairs.

The Moving Crib Museum features moving mechanical figures and may include background music and other sounds. Visitors who are sensitive to movement, sound, or moving visual displays may wish to take this into consideration when planning their visit.

The Religious Goods Shop and Oratory are wheelchair accessible.
