The Old Courthouse are delighted to present this live music concert for Culture Night with renowned musicians , Gerry O’Connor and Paul Meehan . Gerry O’Connor is a traditional Irish fiddle player, producer, composer, teacher, and founding member of Skylark and Lá Lúgh. He has toured internationally as a solo performer and collaborator, and has lectured in Traditional Music Performance at Dundalk Institute of Technology, where he completed an MA under Dr. Fintan Vallely. His research was published in 2018 as The Rose in the Gap: The Dance Music of Oriel, and in 2020 he received the CCE Gradam Award for lifetime service to the traditional arts. Gerry is also a qualified violin maker, restorer, and supplier of fine instruments, and has worked as a fiddle coach and on projects including Compánach with Fintan Vallely. Paul Meehan is an acclaimed Irish musician whose career spans more than 30 years of international touring, recording and collaboration. A former full-time member of Lunasa, Karan Casey Band, North Cregg, Na Dorsa and founding member of Buille, he has performed throughout Europe, North America, Australia, Russia and Japan. He has collaborated with renowned artists including Liz Carroll, Natalie Merchant, Tommy Peoples, Paddy Keenan, Brian Finnegan and Altan. Paul has recorded numerous award-winning albums, including his solo release The Lower Road and appeared on major television and radio networks worldwide.
