An atmospheric audio-visual experience within the grounds of St Nicholas’ Church.
Ambient, electronic and experimental sounds will play alongside a special light installation curated by Brendan Savage (artistic director of Galway Festival of Light), illuminating the church and surrounding area to otherworldly effect.
Cian Ó Cíobháin (DJ)
Originally from west Kerry, but based in Galway, DJ and broadcaster Cian Ó Cíobháin has been presenting world-renowned, alternative music radio show An Taobh Tuathail on RTÉ RnaG since 1999. The programme airs Monday to Friday, 10pm to midnight and features a wide selection of leftfield musical genres that rarely get played on the national airwaves. The Quietus has described Cian as “the Irish John Peel … his laid-back manner, combined with the eclectic and astonishing mix of sounds played on the programme, make him more worthy of the mantle than any other DJ I’m aware of in Britain or elsewhere today.”
Cian has also been DJ-ing in bars, clubs and at festivals for close to three decades. He held various indie club residencies in Salthill, Galway during his college years, before kickstarting the club where he made a name for himself – 110th Street in Galway’s Town Hall in 1998. He was also involved with DJ-ing at and promoting the infamous Boogaloo warehouse-style parties in the Black Box, Galway back in the 00’s.
