Celebrating Traveller and Roma Culture on Culture Night
For Culture Night 2026, Traveller stories will be included in mainstream events, such as the promenade event at the Irish Writers Centre in Dublin, while Traveller organisations will also host events open to all at a variety of locations around the country.
In Pavee Point in Dublin visitors will get an opportunity to experience Creating Connections, Traveller lives – an immersive virtual reality experience celebrating traveller culture and traditions.
In Wicklow Shuttleknits working creative space will host an afternoon of live demonstrations, informal talks, exhibitions, and hands-on participation led by Traveller women makers
In Hymany Park, Ballinasloe Co Galway visitors can explore traditional traveller life through displays of traditional wagons and a handmade wattle tent, alongside demonstrations of a range of skills like tin smithing, griddle bread baking and more. Members of the traveller community will share songs, stories and the cant language, offering an opportunity to engage with living with traveller traditions.
These and the events listed below not only celebrate Traveller cultural heritage but also provide opportunities to promote Traveller participation in the cultural landscape of today.
